CRB

UPDATE

For any new CRB checks being undertaken on any new/existing Leaders, can the following point(s) please be observed as a requirement specified in the June 2007 Edition of ‘Disclosure News’ to volunteers completing a CRB Disclosure Application Form……

: recruitment

Arise

Brand new website and brand new resources to support you in your outreach amongst children. click here for more information

Section B13 – ‘Position Applied for’ Field: Unclear or ambiguous entries may delay the Disclosure Process and terms such as volunteer or helper should no longer be used. Applicants should specify the actual role being undertaken and avoid using vague terms. Please use ‘role specific’ terms such as Company Captain, Residential Helper in this field

The Documentary Evidence Sheet provided by GBCO upon request for a Disclosure Application Form has also been updated. Please refer to this sheet for any future updates that may be made

Due to a number of recent queries relating to the CRB process, find below a summary of current requirements. Specific queries should be addressed to Theresa Clifton at GBCO

Generally:
All new GB Leaders must have a current ‘Enhanced CRB Check’ in line with GBEW recruitment policy for Adult Leaders.

Young Leaders, 16+, should be requested to undertake an ‘Enhanced CRB Check’
(Please see Life to the Full for further details)

If disclosure is obtained via GB it will be valid for 5 years (from the date of issue). If you obtain your disclosure via any other Registered Body it is only valid for 12 months and must cover the individual for ‘Working with Children’.

Disclosures obtained via the CAS can be valid for 5 years (from the date of issue) provided they are registered with GBCO within 12 months of having been received.

Officers commissioned before 2003, who have not been asked by their Church already to complete an enhanced disclosure will be contacted in due course as part of the update process.

Residential:
Anybody going on a residential event as a helper, including officers commissioned prior to 2003, needs (at least) a standard CRB disclosure
