What are they?
Small groups that are designed to meet the needs of the girls and young women in your area.
Where have they come from?
In 1998 GB launched GBYF in response to a call to allow young women in GB to grow in Jesus and in confidence, as well as to input into the future of GB. This concept has moved on and developed into New Generation Networks.
Why bother?
I am sure many of you have at some time felt like you were the only one who was feeling like you. It can be a very isolating experience. New Generation Networks are designed to encourage, engage and involve young women aged 13 – 30.
What are the rules and regulations?
There are no set rules outside the usual safety and Child protection regulations (If the group is for under 18’s you must have an adult present). This web-site will offer you ideas and resources you could use but your network may look very different from any other.
What might my Network do?
Look at the needs of your girls. How could a Network meet those needs?
If you have a number of companies in your area (not necessarily your district) that have only 1 or 2 Brigaders each. Your Network might be a monthly social for all of them.
If you’re a young officer that is feeling frustrated with the usual run of the mill GB nights. Your Network might be a team that gets involved in a local social project.
If you had a fantastic time at a Young Leader Training weekend. Your Network might meet up every half term to encourage, reminisce and give new ideas to each other.
If you have a number of new Christians or people who are asking questions. Your Network could be a Youth Alpha group.
The world is your oyster so use your imagination.
How do I get started?
1. Identify the need.
2. Talk to others in GB about the need and how you would propose
to meet it.
3. Decide on your age range, what you want to achieve and how
you will do it.
4. Tell Districts, Regions and GBCO about it. They may be able to
help with funding, resources and planning.
5. Advertise your Network to the relevant young women.
6. Hold your first event.
If you want to talk to anyone about your ideas please feel free to contact
Kat Bevis, Development Officer, at GBCO.
